There is a lot of construction and commotion going on at Everbank Field these days, home of the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars. After Florida's two other NFL franchises announced their plans to revamp their home stadiums (the Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers), owner Shad Khan and the Jaguars organization have decided to follow suit. 

The Jacksonville city council recently approved three new proposed projects on the site of Everbank Field which will completely revitalize the "Shipyards" district along the St. John's River. The projects include renovations of the club seating at Everbank Field; the US Assure club, a roof to be added to Flex Field (the team's practice field adjacent to the stadium) and the construction of a brand new 5,500 seat amphitheater. The overall goal is to be able to lure more traffic and entertainment to the area and to connect the Shipyards district with downtown Jacksonville. Everbank Field played host to Super Bowl XXXIX in 2005 and the city of Jacksonville would like to host another one in the future. These new additions will be a step in that direction. Jacksonville, Florida residents can expect the construction of new hotels, bars and restaurants to follow shortly thereafter.

The renovations of the US Assure Club seating area will be completed in time for the 2016 NFL season. Glass will be added between the two club levels on both sides of the stadium. Padded seats, bar rails, club tables and flat screen TVs will also be added to the US Assure Club area. The new additions will shrink the stadium's capacity (67,000) by 3,000 seats. Flex Field, the team's practice facility, will have sliding doors to enclose the facility during inclement weather. The space will also be utilized by fan's on game days via a number of free game day activities. The amphitheater will be connected to the practice facility and the new addition will hopefully bring more concerts to the area.  

The 2016 renovations to Everbank Field will follow the 2013 edition of renovations which added two massive video boards in each end zone of the stadium. The video boards are among the largest in the NFL at 362 feet in length. Other additions that comprised the 2013 renovations included two swimming pools, new food and beverage concessions and additional video technology throughout the stadium.  

Jacksonville Jaguars fans aren't the only ones on the receiving end of new amenities either. The Jacksonville Jaguars players will receive a brand new entrance to the field via a new tunnel in the south end zone. The Jaguars organization has announced that in coming seasons, new club amenities will be added in the south end zone which will give fans access to the Jaguar players as they take the field. This feature will be similar to what the Dallas Cowboys offer their fans at AT&T Stadium. If you've ever thought about becoming a season ticket holder for the Jacksonville Jaguars, 2016 is the time to do so. Ticket prices for certain areas of the stadium have decreased, the stadium is improving, the team's defense is improving and the Jaguars had a strong draft of young players in April.
