Vivint, a services provider for smart home and security products, has purchased the naming rights to the Utah Jazz home arena in Salt Lake City. The venue has been known as EnergySolutions Arena since 2006 and the Delta Center between 1991 and 2006. In fact, many Utah Jazz fans still refer to the building as the Delta Center.

Utah Jazz fans never liked the idea of a nuclear waste company like EnergySolutions being linked to their beloved team. So Jazz fans weren't at all upset when EnergySolutions opted out of the final year of their partnership with Larry H. Miller Sports & Entertainment. More commonly, fans of a sports franchise will cringe whenever their favorite stadium or arena changes names. Naming rights deals aren't going anywhere, however, and offer sports organizations a steady stream of guaranteed income.

Vivint is headquartered in Provo, Utah and employs more than 7,000 people which is part of what makes this partnership so special. The sponsorship agreement between Vivint and Larry H. Miller Sports & Entertainment will expire in 2026 and will pay anywhere from $2-$6 million per season. Vivint Smart Home Arena has also recently completed a series of renovations totaling $25 million. At the center of the renovation project is a $15 million high definition scoreboard that dwarfs the venue's old scoreboard. Improvements that were also made to the arena include the addition of the Legends Club, a brand new public address system, an expansion of the concourses, food options and team store.

The Utah Jazz and their home court don't dominate the headlines of the sports world. However, to sports fans in Salt Lake City, the players and the arena are the center of their universe. The Utah Jazz are the only professional sports team in Salt Lake City. For many years, the venue has been known as one of the loudest arenas in the NBA. On that same note, it's no secret that Utah Jazz fans are some of the most loyal and passionate fans in professional sports. This video of former Utah Jazz head coach Jerry Sloan will perhaps give you a little bit of an idea as to how much this place means to Utah Jazz fans.
