The Seattle Seahawks, their partner First & Goal Inc., and telecommunications giant CenturyLink have agreed to extend their ongoing naming rights agreement for CenturyLink Field until 2033. The agreement was originally signed in 2004 by Qwest, another telecommunications company that was later acquired by CenturyLink in 2011. Qwest Field became CenturyLink Field beginning in 2011. Arent Fox LLP served as counsel to the Seattle Seahawks during the renewal process.

The original deal signed by Qwest is set to expire in 2018; the new deal will begin during the 2019 NFL season. The original deal was worth $75 million in total for a period of 15 years; financial terms for the new agreement were not disclosed to the public. There were originally reports that CenturyLink was not going to renew their sponsorship with the Seahawks. However, those rumors proved to be false. Discussions for the new naming rights agreement began in December 2016 and only took four months to complete.

CenturyLink Field first opened in 2002 and is also home to Major League Soccer’s Seattle Sounders. The stadium is known as perhaps the loudest stadium in the National Football League thanks to the “12th man”. CenturyLink Field is also one of the most uniquely designed venues in all of professional sports as well. The venue is located in Seattle’s SoDo neighborhood and adjacent to SafeCo Field, home of Major League Baseball’s Seattle Mariners.
