Section 127 is one of the more popular standing areas for fans that want autographs from the Astros players before the game - right next to their dugout. My son has had some success standing down there during batting practice but we have always had to get to the ballpark really early. If you have seats in rows 1 or 2, you should have no trouble seeing into the Astros dugout throughout the game. Not that any of the players will acknowledge any of the fans while the game is going on. I would imagine the occasional bat gets thrown, though.

We had sat in 127 for one game a few seasons back vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates. Loved the view of the field we got. No downsides to these seats, I would just prefer to sit in any row before row 30. Closer is better in my opinion but some fans don't mind the View Deck seats for Astros games. (That seating area is a ghost town, especially for weeknight games).
I grew up going to the Astrodome with my dad but I can't say that I miss it. Minute Maid Park is a much nicer place to catch a game and has all of the features to make it distinctively different than all of the other ballparks in the league.

To give you an idea what the view of the field is like from section 127, here is a Youtube video shot from there during an Astros game at Minute Maid Park.
