Choosing the right seats on the upper level of either baseline is essential at the Trop. The cat walk will obstruct your view from the top rows but very rarely is the crowd big enough to actually force people to sit up there. The upper levels are extremely steep which puts the fans on the bottom level at a serious advantage because the lower level is much much smaller.

This place does have a lot of disadvantages including the fact that it's in St. Petersburg rather than Tampa, inaccessible via mass transit, you can't enjoy outdoor baseball and the field looks old and dull. But there is still Major League Baseball being played, you just need a good view to see it all. I personally, refuse to sit in section 313 again. If you're a bargain shopper, the outfield sections offer good views for not a whole lot of money. Take my word for it - lord knows I've been to enough Rays games.

To give you an idea what the view of the field is like from section 313, here is a Youtube video shot from there during a Rays/Boston Red Sox game at Tropicana Field.
