I've sat in the upper deck many more times than the lower deck for Panthers games. I've even sat up there for an ACC Championship game.
Any seat along the sidelines of the upper level are quality seats in my opinion. Even in the later rows. There are nearly 40 rows in most of the upper level sections so I would advise fans visiting BofA stadium in the future to sit as close to the front row as possible. Although, you have to be careful when choosing seats in the first row because the safety railing can actually act as an obstruction. This happened to a friend of mine, he paid significantly more for seats in the first row only to have an obstructed view where his drink holder was located. So beware of that.
The upper level concourses are open aired so it won't offer much shield from the elements as opposed to being able to seek shelter in the lower level concourse. Who remembers the rain at the Jaguars game a few seasons back? This place looks fancy and immaculate from the outside but to me, it's just a normal stadium which is hard for a Panthers fanatic to admit.

To give you an idea what the view of the field is like from section 512, here is a Youtube video shot from there during a Panthers/Atlanta Falcons game at Bank of America Stadium.
