To give you an idea what the view of the ice is like from section 234, here is a Youtube video shot from row A as the Penguins take the ice vs. the Chicago Blackhawks.
Although our seats were near the corner, I could see all of the fast breaks and tight passing between the Penguins players. We saw the Penguins take on the Rangers and the atmosphere was amazing. This city loves their Penguins. There aren't a ton of seats in the upper level which means you should be able to see everything as well as we could. The lower levels are much bigger in terms of number of rows and they seem to sit further back from the ice.
Upper level seating is very comfortable at this arena; I know some NHL arenas like to pack fans in like rats in the upper bowl but not here.
I wish I could tell you that the upper level offers fans a bargain on tickets but unfortunately it doesn't. On any given night, you're still looking at paying out $100+ per ticket.
